Dr. Diana Mendez is a first-generation Latina and licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience providing individualized, culturally responsive care. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. A respected voice in the field, Dr. Mendez was honored with Congressional Recognition in 2022 for her exceptional service to Central Florida’s veteran population. Her biography was formally entered into the Congressional Record, reflecting her unwavering dedication to community impact and equitable care.

Dr. Mendez specializes in treating trauma-related disorders, life transitions, identity development, relationship issues, performance challenges, and the complexities of bicultural and acculturative stress. She blends evidence-based practices with a deep commitment to cultural humility, offering a safe, affirming space for clients to explore, heal, and grow. Her clinical work is further enriched by advanced training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy for PTSD—where she serves as a national consultant for trauma-informed care and complex trauma presentations.

With also a strong foundation in interpersonal, attachment-based, and liberation-focused approaches, Dr. Mendez sees healing as a holistic process rooted in both individual experiences and collective context. Her research and advocacy focus on resilience in historically marginalized communities, the impact of social determinants on mental health, and reducing health disparities.

While our stories shape us, they do not define us.

My Approach

At the core of my approach is a powerful belief: while our stories shape us, they do not define us. Through a strengths-based and authentic connection, I support clients in reclaiming their stories and stepping into their fullest, most empowered selves. My approach is warm and supportive, while also active, practical, real, and grounded in evidence-based care. Together we will work toward defining and achieving your goals.

IMAGINE it

Imagine a life where your past no longer defines your present—where you feel more like yourself again, no longer overwhelmed by anxiety, fear, or emotional pain. A life where your relationships are built on trust, safety, and connection, and you can show up fully without carrying the weight of old wounds.

REACH it

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you've experienced trauma—but it’s also a courageous act of reclaiming your story. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but over time, it opens the door to a more grounded, fulfilling life—one where you feel empowered, seen, and supported as you move forward.
